Adil Baguirov and Dayton Schools Are a Great Fit

Adil Baguirov
Throughout his four-year stint as an active member of the urban Dayton Board of Education, Adil Baguirov is proud that he has made a significant difference. After all, the Dayton school district is among the poorest in Ohio; the second-poorest of more than 600 school districts. Because of that, before he arrived, the Dayton Public Schools district was failing and very close to having to deal with a state takeover. Now, along with the other board members' attempts to significantly modernize the system, the Dayton Public Schools are in perhaps the best shape they have been in several decades. In their last state report, the district received an "A" on their last state report, thus making a state takeover unnecessary.

Adil Baguirov has largely met or exceeded the promises he made to the people who voted him to that position in 2013. He has seen to improved technology in the schools, he has helped to bring financial accountability and responsibility to the school district’s finances, and he also led the move to secure responsible financing (at 2.06 percent) for the replacement of most of Dayton's school bus fleet of aging, purchasing 115 brand-new buses that are among the best available and are equipped with a 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
